About the Role

The National Medical Care Company (Care) is seeking a Consultant Pediatric Pulmonology to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves providing comprehensive care to pediatric patients, both inpatient and outpatient, while upholding the highest standards of professional performance. The role requires a commitment to evidence-based medicine, professional medical ethics, and strict adherence to JCIA standards, hospital medical by-laws, and the laws of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure superior quality medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for all patients served at NMC Hospitals and Clinics.
  • Provide patient care within the parameters of professional competence as reflected in the scope of clinical privileges for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Practice within the framework of clinically relevant and scientifically valid standards, guidelines, and criteria.
  • Conduct regular ward rounds, independently or as part of a team, to formulate multidisciplinary treatment plans.
  • Assess and refer appropriate patients under medical care to other medical facilities, and accept referrals of patients with medical problems in the field of specialty.
  • Participate in the on-call rota of the department for patient care and admission.
  • Respond to emergencies to offer advice and actively participate with problems if required, related to the specialty.
  • Observe and uphold patients' rights of security, confidentiality, and privacy.
  • Maintain appropriate records of all patients with accurate, timely, and legible completion of medical records.
  • Play a leadership role in the organization's performance.

Clinical Procedures and Supervision

  • Perform routine procedures including bronchoscopies, pleural biopsies, and pulmonary function tests.
  • Provide inpatient consultations in the area of expertise.
  • Provide supervision to the respiratory therapy service and respiratory management.
  • Supervise duties of assigned junior staff.

Professional Development and Quality Improvement

  • Provide leadership for performance-improvement functions in the process of measurement, assessment, and improvement of both clinical and non-clinical processes as part of the Departmental Quality Plan.
  • Actively participate in Continued Medical Education (**** through educational hospital activities (morning report meetings, grand rounds, clinical tutorials and seminars, journal club, radiology or clinico-pathological conferences), and through National and International meetings, conferences, and symposia.
  • Participate in review of literature, case reporting, and clinical studies/research.
  • Actively participate in training programs related to the field and continuously upgrade skills.
  • Participate in assigned committee meetings, such as Quality Improvement and Infection Control.
  • Abide by Department Policies and Procedures, as well as hospital by-laws, Rules, and Regulations.
  • Carry out any other assignments as directed by Hospital Administration and/or the department head, within the realm of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Reporting Structure and Collaboration

The Consultant Pediatric Pulmonology reports directly to the Head, Department of Internal Medicine. This role involves extensive liaison with consultants of the same and other specialties within the department, consultants from other departments, nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, and patients and their families. The Consultant will also supervise Senior Registrars, Registrars, Residents, Nurses, and other assigned paramedical staff.

Experience Required

Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in Pediatric Pulmonology. A strong commitment to maintaining a high level of professional performance and adherence to established medical and ethical standards is essential for this role.
