About the Role

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority is seeking a Customs Studies Senior Specialist to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves operating with minimal supervision, working within established guidelines and procedures to prepare complex, specialized, or ad-hoc reports in the customs field. The specialist will contribute to achieving milestones and operational targets within their assigned functional area, undertaking key operational activities including the preparation of studies for Committees related to fines and customs assessments.

Customs Cases and Technical Studies

• Request and gather necessary documents and data from relevant stakeholders within specified timelines for case file preparation and study.
• Prepare comprehensive case files, ensuring data completeness and accuracy for thorough review.
• Correct data entry errors in case files, including discrepancies in disputed items and physical errors.
• Conduct accurate and objective studies of case files concerning fines imposed by ZATCA, identifying reasons for imposition and providing timely studies to Committees.
• Perform accurate and objective studies of case files related to customs assessments by ZATCA, highlighting reasons for due tax ratios from an accounting perspective and submitting timely studies to Committees.
• Prepare precise studies in response to consultation requests from members of Appeals Committees during deliberations.
• Formulate customs accounting opinions on subjects related to tax laws and regulations.

Reporting and Data Management

• Develop accurate and timely periodical and customized reports for the Section, submitting them to management.
• Document and periodically update the section’s information and data within its relevant database.
• Report issues to management and develop action plans that include recommendations for effective resolution or improvement.

Operational Adherence and Support

• Adhere to all relevant policies, processes, and standard operating procedures to ensure controlled and consistent work execution.
• Assist in resolving escalated problems and provide necessary support to junior team members to maintain efficient operations.
• Escalate complex problems to the appropriate personnel to ensure proper closure of cases and issues.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Team Leadership and Development

• Train junior staff on various job activities to facilitate knowledge transfer, where applicable.
• Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibilities, and monitor the workflow of subordinates and junior staff.
• Support junior staff or direct reports in executing their duties in accordance with established policies and processes.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates for this role should possess 2 years of relevant experience. The ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision and to consistently work within established guidelines and procedures is essential for success in this position.
