The Role: Design Manager Fitout

As a full-time Design Manager Fitout, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality interior fit-out projects from concept through completion. This position requires 5-10 years of experience and involves ensuring projects align with client vision, functional requirements, budget, and quality standards. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with consultants and contractors, and drive design excellence to create exceptional interior environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the development and coordination of interior fit-out design packages across commercial, hospitality, residential, retail, or mixed-use projects, ensuring functionality, quality, and alignment with project objectives.
• Collaborate with architects, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to create practical, aesthetically refined, and technically sound interior environments that meet client expectations.
• Manage design coordination between internal teams, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring all design deliverables comply with project requirements, budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
• Develop and maintain the design programme, ensuring timely completion of design packages, material approvals, shop drawing reviews, and project milestones.
• Provide practical and innovative solutions to technical and design coordination issues throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring seamless integration of architectural, interior, MEP, and specialist systems.
• Mentor and guide the design team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement while ensuring successful project delivery.
• Regularly report design progress, key milestones, risks, and coordination issues to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring informed decision-making and project success.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams, manage multiple stakeholders, and deliver complex fit-out projects from concept through construction.
• Experience in reviewing technical drawings, shop drawings, FF&E packages, material specifications, and construction details.
• Strong understanding of architectural, interior, MEP, and specialist design coordination, ensuring all disciplines are fully integrated before construction.
• Demonstrated ability to manage design quality, monitor project progress, and ensure compliance with project standards, budgets, and programme requirements.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to resolve technical and design challenges efficiently while maintaining project quality and timelines.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with experience coordinating clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams throughout all project phases.
