Job Description
About the Role
Soar is seeking a Director of Business Intelligence and Analytics to lead its BI and analytics function. This full-time role is based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires a hands-on leader who will be accountable for both the strategic direction and practical implementation of analytics initiatives. The Director will work directly with business leaders across various departments, including UX, credit, collections, investment, and operations, to translate data into actionable decisions.
Role Responsibilities and Scope
This position is a director-level individual contributor and player-coach role, involving a substantial amount of time dedicated to building and analyzing. The Director will own the semantic layer, business definitions, and analytics products, serving as the trusted business foundation for architectural and AI teams. As the function expands, there will be opportunities to selectively hire and mentor staff while maintaining direct involvement in delivery. Success in this role is measured by improved decision-making speed and accuracy across departments, and the trustworthiness of AI-generated answers.
Key Responsibilities
- Set priorities and deliver the BI and analytics roadmap, taking critical projects from business question through modeling, analysis, and adoption.
- Design, implement, and maintain the event taxonomy, entity models (users, devices, sessions, loans), and business metric definitions on Snowflake using dbt or equivalent tools.
- Conduct decision-ready analysis by writing SQL, investigating performance changes, testing business hypotheses, and translating findings into clear recommendations for various departments.
- Develop and maintain executive reporting and departmental dashboards, ensuring they have named business owners and defined decisions, and measure their adoption and value.
- Establish consistent business metrics by defining KPIs, resolving conflicting definitions, and maintaining a practical business glossary.
- Curate semantic models for AI agents, build and maintain a golden-question evaluation set, review agent-generated SQL, and investigate accuracy failures with the AI team.
- Reconstruct the customer journey by building sessionization, funnel, and cohort models connecting product behavior to lending and operational outcomes.
- Partner with security, GRC, and architecture to implement and verify PII masking, row-access policies, department-scoped access, and auditability across datasets.
- Identify instrumentation gaps and data quality issues, define business requirements, and collaborate with architecture on producer-level data contracts and fixes.
- Establish testing, documentation, version control, and review practices for analytics delivery, and hire and mentor analysts or analytics engineers as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in business intelligence and analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex analytical projects.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with data transformation layers like dbt.
- Experience in designing and implementing semantic layers and data models.
Key Outcomes in the First 12 Months
- A prioritized BI and analytics roadmap linked to business decisions, with a consistent delivery cadence.
- A documented event taxonomy, business glossary, and KPI framework adopted across departments.
- A production-ready semantic layer, directly contributed to, powering dashboards and AI queries with tested, documented models.
- Live executive and departmental dashboards for UX, credit, collections, and investment, demonstrating weekly active use and support for decision-making.
- Customer journey, funnel, and cohort models connecting product behavior to lending and operational outcomes.
- A golden-question evaluation suite with measured AI agent accuracy and agreed acceptance thresholds.
- Masking and access policies enforced on all datasets exposed to analysts or agents.
- Concrete examples of analysis influencing business decisions, with outcomes tracked against baselines.
