About the Role

Webook is seeking a Director of Data Platforms & Intelligence to join our team in Riyadh, Riyadh Province. This is a full-time, strategically significant leadership position responsible for transforming Webook’s data capabilities into a revenue-driving, intelligence-generating engine. The role integrates and oversees data platforms, analytics, AI enablement, intelligence products, commercial data monetisation, and operational and executive decision intelligence.

Core Responsibilities

The Director of Data Platforms & Intelligence will own and drive several critical areas, ensuring data serves as a foundational asset for the company. Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining and owning the end-to-end data platform strategy, aligning with product, engineering, and commercial objectives.
  • Architecting scalable batch and streaming pipelines, real-time analytics, ML enablement, and multi-tenant access, primarily on GCP (BigQuery / ClickHouse, Airflow, DBT, ML Ops).
  • Implementing comprehensive data observability, including freshness, anomalies, schema drift, and SLAs/SLOs, treating data incidents with production-level severity.
  • Leading business intelligence initiatives, including executive dashboards, KPI frameworks, forecasting, and operational metrics, while enabling self-service analytics.
  • Designing and owning the data-as-a-product roadmap, building promoter dashboards, and collaborating with Commercial on pricing and go-to-market strategies.
  • Building data foundations for AI and ML models, supporting recommendation systems, conversational UX, forecasting, and anomaly detection, and operationalising models with monitoring and retraining.
  • Defining policies for data access, retention, and protection, ensuring PDPL & GDPR compliance in partnership with CISO & DPO.

Leadership and Team Development

This role involves significant leadership responsibilities, including:

  • Leading and mentoring Data Engineering, Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Data Operations teams.
  • Defining organisational structure, developing hiring plans, and establishing career ladders for data professionals.
  • Acting as a core member of the Technology Leadership Team, contributing to overall technology strategy and execution.

Required Qualifications

Candidates for this position should demonstrate the following essential qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, architecture, or data leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of building enterprise-grade data platforms.
  • Experience commercialising external data or intelligence products.
  • Deep knowledge of modern data stacks, including GCP, BigQuery/Snowflake/ClickHouse, streaming technologies, and various BI tools.
  • Strong expertise in AI, ML Ops, KPI development, and executive reporting.
  • A strong understanding of data privacy regulations such as PDPL and GDPR.
  • Excellent executive communication and influencing skills.

Preferred Experience

The following experiences are considered advantageous for this role:

  • Experience within the ticketing, events, travel, marketplaces, or entertainment technology sectors.
  • Prior experience with multi-tenant data products.
  • Experience delivering market intelligence to enterprise clients.

Work Environment

This full-time position is based in Riyadh, where you will operate within the Technology Leadership Team at Webook. The role requires a leader capable of ensuring data resilience and reliability, even during periods of extreme traffic spikes and major events.
