About the District Manager Role

Adidas is seeking a District Manager to oversee the operations and performance of multiple retail stores within a designated geographic area. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The primary objective of this role is to drive sales, achieve financial targets, and ensure an exceptional customer experience across all stores under supervision.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Define appropriate staffing levels for each store to ensure service excellence and meet standards in Sales Per Hour, Personal Expenses, and NPS.
  • Lead the recruitment process for Store Managers, ensuring high-quality staff acquisition.
  • Ensure adequate team training across all stores, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and personal development.
  • Support Store Managers' career development and implement succession planning.
  • Manage store team performance, serving as a role model, setting expectations, providing recognition, and handling conflicts constructively.
  • Ensure stores maintain a high level of customer service, focusing on satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Address customer complaints and issues promptly and professionally.
  • Promote a welcoming and inviting in-store atmosphere.

Operational Excellence and Merchandising

  • Ensure every store adheres to local labor and Health and Safety laws, as well as Adidas policies.
  • Drive store operational excellence, ensuring compliance with House of Retail principles, proper back-of-house setup, and implementation of retail key operating procedures.
  • Accountable for store stock management, including inventory controls, SOH, and shrinkage.
  • Execute the District Manager checklist regularly as part of the store visit procedure to reflect the real status of each store.
  • Support store openings and closure projects, collaborating with Real Estate and Store Development teams.
  • Ensure appropriate product placement on the sales floor, with a focus on best sellers.
  • Partner with Store Managers and Visual Merchandisers to maintain a consistent and appealing store look.

Financial and Premises Management

  • Ensure stores and the district meet financial targets by establishing monthly P&L reviews.
  • Hold accountability for store Net Sales, conversion rate, omnichannel services, personal expenses, and shrinkage.
  • Influence other operating overhead cost items such as cleaning and security services, and store consumables.
  • Provide input for store performance planning as part of the Budget, Forecast, and Integrated Business Planning Processes.
  • Provide regular feedback on service levels for maintenance, security, and cleaning services to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide regular feedback on store location, trading zone trends, presence of new retailers and competitors, and indicate potential opportunities for relocations or openings.
  • Act as a single point of contact for retail park managers.

Collaboration and Strategic Input

  • Actively provide feedback to retail back-office functions and stakeholders within assigned projects, representing the 'voice of the consumer' for improving retail operations and channels.
  • Lead the implementation of omnichannel consumer journey experiences and relevant tools to enhance retail experiences in stores.
  • Ensure all stores in the district are visited at least three times per quarter.
  • Key relationships include Retail & Franchise Backoffice functions, Finance & HR Retail, Zone/cluster local teams, influencers, communities, local assets, landlords, mall/centers management, and other Senior District Managers Retail Europe.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of experience in retail management, preferably in a multi-store or district management capacity. This role requires strong leadership capabilities, a proven track record in driving sales and achieving financial targets, and a deep understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and customer experience principles. The ability to manage diverse teams, ensure operational compliance, and provide strategic input on market trends is essential.
