About the Role

The HSE Leader™ is seeking a dedicated EHS Officer to join its team in Riyadh, Riyadh. This full-time position is designed for professionals with 0-1 years of experience, focusing on the implementation and maintenance of robust environmental, health, and safety protocols across various projects. The role is central to fostering a safe and compliant work environment.

Core EHS Management Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage all EHS-related documents, including EHS plans, emergency response plans, and risk assessments.
• Attend EHS meetings with clients and project teams, reporting all EHS-related issues to the Head Office.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for all EHS activities.
• Develop and implement EHS Plans and Environmental Management Plans.
• Coordinate external EHS audits and third-party inspections of equipment.
• Prepare and conduct emergency preparedness plans and drills.
• Facilitate the implementation of the Work Permit System.
• Coordinate occupational health and welfare measures for personnel.
• Prepare EHS conditions of contract for subcontractors.
• Provide regular EHS reports to project and IC heads, detailing the current status of EHS performance.

Site Safety and Risk Control

• Conduct daily EHS inspections within the assigned zone.
• Ensure engineers and supervisors obtain appropriate safe work permits from clients or main contractors.
• Perform site-wide risk assessments, communicating high-risk areas to site engineers, clients, or main contractors.
• Conduct Job EHS Analysis for high-risk activities to minimize hazardous conditions.
• Verify that all personnel wear required personal protective equipment, including helmets, EHS shoes, and coveralls.
• Confirm that equipment such as ladders and scaffolding are in good working condition prior to use.
• Ensure satisfactory health and hygiene conditions for workers, including access to water, rest areas, adequate lighting, and ventilation.
• Maintain proper housekeeping on project sites to prevent incidents.
• Identify hazards and conduct risk assessments for critical activities, ensuring findings are integrated into method statements.
• Carry out monthly project risk management audits and quarterly system audits.
• Intervene and stop work if any unsafe practices are witnessed, promoting a proactive safety culture.

EHS Training and Awareness Programs

• Provide EHS induction training to new workers.
• Ensure engineers deliver weekly toolbox talks to enhance EHS awareness among workers.
• Encourage both workers and engineers to actively implement EHS practices.
• Conduct EHS training programs for engineers and workers on-site, and participate in HR-organized EHS training initiatives.

Incident Response and Investigation

• Collaborate with engineers to investigate minor or major incidents and accidents.
• Communicate investigation results to workers and engineers to inform future precautions.
• Administer first-aid and/or seek medical assistance in the event of worker injury.

EHS System Development and Compliance

• Establish, monitor, appraise, and coordinate upgraded versions of integrated health, safety, and environment management systems for construction projects.
• Ensure these systems conform to ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 9001 standards.
• Develop procedure manuals and conduct internal audits based on these international standards.
