Job Description
About the Role
The National Medical Care Company (Care) is seeking a full-time Encoder to join its team in Riyadh. This role is integral to ensuring accurate coding entry in healthcare claims, which facilitates reimbursement from insurance companies and the generation of precise invoices for cash patients. The Encoder plays a vital part in correctly charging patients and issuing invoices in accordance with the Hospital's approved pricelist for all services, based on patient financial status. Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient files and records to ensure all charges are applied accurately according to procedures performed.
- Charge all provided services in the assigned location, as documented by service providers, referencing financial categories and related codes.
- Obtain and review necessary claim data and service requirements.
- Ensure assigned codes comply with required legal and insurance rules, and that necessary signatures and authorizations are in place prior to submission.
- Coordinate effectively with the Approval and Patient Accounts Section, as well as with healthcare professionals and providers.
Specific Duties for Inpatient Encoding
- Ensure all services and doctor’s orders are properly saved before directing the patient to reception for payment processing.
- Communicate with healthcare professionals and providers to gather any additional details required for the completion and submission of insurance approvals, thereby preventing delays.
- Oversee service charging and delivery to facilitate the accurate completion and submission of insurance-related forms.
- Double-check all charges against entries in the medical file and billing sheets for consistency and accuracy.
- Ensure the availability, completion, and validation of all necessary billing documents for accounts.
- Verify that Encoders’ Flow Sheets for all discharged patients are correctly filled up and submitted to the Office for review.
General Professional Responsibilities
- Answer inquiries from patients and visitors in a polite and professional manner.
- Conduct work professionally and strictly maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to all department policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing education programs developed by the department, including those on Department Policy and Procedures, Fire Safety, Risk Management, and Environmental Control.
- Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned by Supervisors and other authorized personnel.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Supervisor / Director Patient Services Support Services Supervisor.
