The ETL Engineer Role

Exequt MENA is seeking an ETL Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves building and maintaining the data pipelines that underpin the company's analytics and data platform initiatives. The ETL Engineer will manage ETL workflows end-to-end, encompassing extraction strategies, transformation logic, monitoring, and optimization. This position requires working within a big data stack and collaborating directly with business teams to translate requirements into functional pipelines. The role includes delivery on international projects, with English serving as the primary working language for all documentation, progress updates, and client-facing solution presentations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, optimize, and maintain the complete ETL lifecycle.
• Define data extraction strategies, cleansing rules, and transformation logic based on business requirements.
• Write complex SQL for querying, statistical analysis, and query optimization to improve processing efficiency.
• Build and automate ETL workflows using Python, Java, and Shell.
• Contribute to the design, modeling, and maintenance of Hive-based data warehouses, applying layering concepts (ODS, DWD, DWS, ADS) and optimizing storage structures.
• Integrate and maintain Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and related big data technologies within ETL workflows.
• Monitor ETL jobs, configure alerts, troubleshoot failures, and resolve data latency and consistency issues.
• Establish and continuously improve ETL operations and maintenance standards.
• Partner with business teams on requirement analysis, solution design, implementation, data validation, and data quality initiatives.
• Stay current with new tools and techniques and integrate them into the data pipeline.

Required Qualifications

• 2–3 years of hands-on ETL or data engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex queries and query optimization.
• Programming experience in at least one of Python, Java, or Shell, with working knowledge of the others.
• Experience with Hive and an understanding of data warehouse layering concepts (ODS, DWD, DWS, ADS).
• Exposure to Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka in a production or project setting.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting scheduled data jobs.
• Professional English proficiency, both written and spoken, for technical documentation and client presentations.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Saudi Arabia.
