Job Description

About the Role

Westin is seeking an Executive Chef II to oversee daily kitchen operations in Riyadh. This full-time role involves leading culinary staff, managing all food-related functions, and ensuring high-quality product consistency across various food preparation areas. The Executive Chef II will be responsible for continually improving guest and employee satisfaction while maximizing financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the kitchen management team and provide direction for all day-to-day operations.
  • Supervise all kitchen areas, including banquets, room service, restaurants, bar/lounge, and employee cafeteria, to ensure consistent, high-quality product production.
  • Guide and develop staff, including direct reports, and ensure sanitation and food standards are met.
  • Develop and implement guidelines and control procedures for purchasing and receiving.
  • Manage department controllable expenses, including food cost, supplies, uniforms, and equipment.
  • Provide direction for menu development and monitor the quality of raw and cooked food products.
  • Determine food presentation, create decorative food displays, and ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Prepare and cook various types of food for regular service, special guests, or functions.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage team members, advocating sound financial/business decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees and ensure fair and consistent administration of property policies.
  • Identify developmental needs of others, coaching and mentoring to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Train kitchen associates on cooking fundamentals and plate presentations.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Support service behaviors that exceed customer expectations for satisfaction and retention.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring quality and standards meet customer expectations.
  • Display leadership in guest hospitality, exemplify excellent customer service, and create a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels, and effectively handle guest problems and complaints.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proven culinary talent with experience personally performing tasks while leading staff.
  • Experience in overseeing all food preparation and support areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure sanitation and food standards are achieved.
  • Knowledge of brand safety standards and ability to implement them.
  • Experience: 5-10 years in a relevant culinary leadership role.

Additional Information

This role requires providing information to executive teams, managers, supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates through various communication channels. The Executive Chef II will also analyze information and evaluate results to choose optimal solutions and solve problems.
