About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, *** is seeking a Hotel Manager for its operations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role functions as the strategic business leader for property operations and acts as the General Manager in their absence. The position requires 5-10 years of relevant experience.

The Hotel Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the operations strategy across various departments, ensuring the brand service strategy and initiatives are executed. This includes overseeing Front Office, Retail/Gift Shops, Recreation/Fitness Center, Housekeeping, Security/Loss Prevention, Engineering/Maintenance, Food and Beverage/Culinary, and Event Management where applicable. The role focuses on meeting target customer needs, growing revenues, maximizing financial performance, and ensuring employee satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the Executive Committee, the Hotel Manager develops and implements property-wide strategies to deliver products and services that meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the brand’s target customer and property employees, while providing a return on investment.

Managing Financial Performance

  • Keep the operations team focused on critical components to drive guest satisfaction and financial results.
  • Ensure all operational areas contribute to the overall guest experience.
  • Review financial reports and statements to assess operational performance against budget.
  • Ensure capital expenditure funds are utilized for service strategy priorities.
  • Collaborate with direct reports to identify concerns and improve departmental financial performance.
  • Maintain profit margins without compromising guest or employee satisfaction.
  • Identify and analyze operational challenges, facilitating solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Coach and support the operations team in managing occupancy & rate, wages, and controllable expenses.
  • Review Wage Progress Reports, compare budgeted to actual wages, and hold the team accountable for results.
  • Develop and execute an operational strategy aligned with the brand’s business strategy.
  • Make and execute key decisions to achieve property goals.

Leading Operations and Teams

  • Strive to improve service performance continuously.
  • Communicate clear and consistent operational goals to achieve desired results.
  • Ensure implementation of brand and regional business initiatives, communicating follow-up actions.
  • Ensure core elements of the service strategy are in place.
  • Regularly tour the property, engaging with employees and guests to understand business needs and assess operational opportunities.
  • Establish a vision for product and service delivery on property.
  • Champion the brand’s service vision and ensure alignment among the property leadership team.
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees.

Human Resources Management

  • Observe employee service behaviors and provide feedback to individuals and managers.
  • Hire operations management team members demonstrating strong functional expertise, creativity, and entrepreneurial leadership.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Utilize an "open door" policy and review employee satisfaction results to address problems or concerns.
  • Stay knowledgeable of leadership talent within the property.
  • Foster employee commitment to excellent service, participate in daily stand-up meetings, and model desired service behaviors.
