HSE Lead

About the Role

WSP is seeking an experienced HSE Lead to manage health, safety, and environmental performance for a major construction supervision project located in the West of Riyadh. This full-time position requires a professional with over 10 years of experience who will lead the site HSE function, ensuring compliance with project requirements, Saudi regulations, and international best practices.

Role Context

The successful candidate will work closely with the supervision team and contractors to foster a proactive safety culture across the project. This role is central to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental management throughout the construction phase, contributing to the overall success and safety of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities across the project.
• Monitor contractor compliance with approved HSE plans, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety assessments to identify hazards and verify compliance.
• Drive proactive safety initiatives and promote a positive safety culture among all project stakeholders.
• Review and approve contractor HSE documentation, including safety plans, emergency response plans, and inspection reports.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
• Lead toolbox talks, safety campaigns, awareness programs, and HSE meetings.
• Track and report project HSE performance metrics, trends, and compliance statistics.
• Interface with clients, authorities, contractors, and project leadership on all HSE-related matters.
• Support emergency preparedness planning and ensure effective response procedures are maintained.
• Mentor and manage HSE officers and inspectors assigned to the project.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental leadership roles, preferably within major construction supervision projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead HSE functions and manage teams effectively.
• Strong understanding of Saudi regulations and international best practices in HSE.

Work Environment

This role is based in Riyadh and involves working on-site within a major construction supervision project. The position is full-time, requiring active engagement with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
