HSE Lead

About the Role

WSP is seeking an experienced HSE Lead to manage health, safety, and environmental performance for a major construction supervision project located in the west of Riyadh. This full-time position requires a professional with over 10 years of experience in the field.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will lead the site HSE function, collaborating closely with the supervision team and contractors. This role involves promoting a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with project requirements, Saudi regulations, and international best practices. The HSE Lead will contribute to a global team of over 70,000 employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities across the project.
• Monitor contractor compliance with approved HSE plans, procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety assessments to identify hazards and verify compliance.
• Drive proactive safety initiatives and promote a positive safety culture among all project stakeholders.
• Review and approve contractor HSE documentation, including safety plans, emergency response plans, and inspection reports.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
• Lead toolbox talks, safety campaigns, awareness programs, and HSE meetings.
• Track and report project HSE performance metrics, trends, and compliance statistics.
• Interface with clients, authorities, contractors, and project leadership on all HSE-related matters.
• Support emergency preparedness planning and ensure effective response procedures are maintained.
• Mentor and manage HSE officers and inspectors assigned to the project.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental leadership roles.
• Proven experience in overseeing HSE performance on major construction supervision projects.
• Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and international best practices.

Work Environment

This role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and is a full-time position. The HSE Lead will work within a close-knit community of professionals, contributing to landmark projects on a global scale.
