About the Opportunity

Enoch Cree Nation is seeking an Indigenous Engagement Navigator to work with the Zebra Child & Youth Advocacy Centre. This contract position is designed to build bridges, strengthen relationships, and develop pathways for Indigenous communities to access the Zebra Centre's services and supports. The role is initially funded for one year through a grant from the Edmonton Community Foundation, with the aim of securing permanent funding.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Multi-Disciplinary Team, the Indigenous Engagement Navigator will be instrumental in fostering collaborative relationships with surrounding Indigenous communities. The primary objective is to facilitate access to the Zebra Centre's resources and supports for Indigenous children, youth, and caregivers navigating systems related to abuse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Finalize tailored educational and support materials for Indigenous Communities, as well as for children, youth, and caregivers navigating the various systems supporting Indigenous victims of abuse.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions for a pilot group, likely an Indigenous community with an existing relationship.
  • Implement processes and systems developed to support Indigenous families through investigating abuse, navigating the justice system, and connecting with healing supports.

Required Experience and Attributes

Candidates for this role should possess 0-1 years of relevant experience. The position requires an individual who is knowledgeable, sensitive, and engaging, with a strong ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships within Indigenous communities.

Work Environment and Schedule

This is a full-time, flexible position, requiring ** hours per week, Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required as needed. The role is based at the Zebra Centre, located at 14******* Ave NW. Please note that accredited facility dogs are present on-site.

Contract Term

This is a one-year contract position. While the initial term is for one year, Enoch Cree Nation and the Zebra Child & Youth Advocacy Centre intend to secure ongoing funding to transition this role into a permanent team member.
