Job Description
About the Role
King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh is seeking an Infection Control Practitioner. This full-time role involves collaborating with the Infection Control team to perform essential duties within the Department of Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to surveillance of infections based on the Infection Control Surveillance Plan for assigned inpatient and ambulatory care units.
- Integrate clinical findings, direct patient observations, laboratory results, and other diagnostic tests to determine the presence of infections according to established criteria by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN).
- Input and maintain accurate data within the Infection Control database.
- Provide a basic level of epidemiological investigation of infections across the Hospital, applying epidemiologic principles in data analysis, identification of trends, risk factors, and designing improvement initiatives.
- Perform clinical responsibilities within related specialties such as Nursing, Laboratory, Respiratory, or Pharmacy, as assigned.
- Document diseases required to be reported to the Ministry of Health and submit necessary reports.
- Make recommendations and initiate appropriate isolation precautions for known or suspected infectious processes, discontinuing precautions as indicated.
- Perform appropriate follow-up for employees who have unprotected exposure to diseases for which specific protocols exist.
- Collaborate with the Infection Control team and other relevant stakeholders on activities, decisions, and actions related to the environment of care and risk management.
- Ensure that Standards for Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) are met.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for this role should possess 2-5 years of experience in a relevant field. The position requires a professional who can effectively integrate clinical and epidemiological data to support infection control initiatives.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, within a hospital setting. The role involves working closely with a dedicated Infection Control team and other healthcare professionals to maintain high standards of patient safety and public health.
