The Role: Lead Field Inspector – Façade and Envelope

AECOM is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lead Field Inspector – Façade and Envelope to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves overseeing the design, installation, and quality assurance of façade and building envelope systems on complex construction projects. The role requires leading a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring all work adheres to international standards, local regulations, and project specifications. This position is suited for a professional with strong technical expertise, decisive leadership, and analytical problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise field engineering activities for façade and envelope systems, including curtain walls, glazing, and weatherproofing installations.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of façade systems with overall building construction.
  • Conduct detailed technical analysis of façade designs and specifications, identifying potential issues and recommending solutions.
  • Manage quality control inspections and testing protocols to ensure compliance with building codes, industry standards, and project requirements.
  • Oversee installation procedures and provide technical guidance to field teams, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including as-built drawings, inspection reports, and performance data.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot façade-related challenges, developing effective corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with design teams to optimize façade performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code and other applicable local and international regulations.
  • Monitor project timelines and budgets related to façade and envelope work, reporting progress to senior management.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and field staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of professional field engineering experience in façade and envelope systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in curtain wall systems, glazing technologies, and building envelope design and installation.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and BIM modeling tools.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations (international standards and Saudi Building Code).
  • Proven project management and site coordination experience on commercial or high-rise construction projects.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to supervise and mentor engineering staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality control, testing procedures, and safety protocols in construction.
  • Organized and systematic approach to documentation and record-keeping.
  • Experience working on construction projects in the Middle East or Saudi Arabia (preferred).
  • Certifications in façade engineering, building envelope systems, or related disciplines (preferred).
  • Familiarity with façade performance analysis and thermal/acoustic considerations (preferred).
