The Role: Lead Specialist, Autonomous Platforms II

Ma'aden is seeking a Lead Specialist, Autonomous Platforms II to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time role is central to leading specialized technical solutions within the Sustainability & Resource Growth division. The specialist will focus on the design, development, and deployment of autonomous platforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and innovation across the company's operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of autonomous platform architectures, including the integration of robotics, IoT, AI, and control systems. Define technical standards, design patterns, and system architectures aligned with enterprise and innovation strategies, ensuring scalability, modularity, and future technology roadmap alignment.
• Oversee the technical design and implementation of autonomous platforms and systems. Guide multidisciplinary delivery teams (engineering, data/AI, operations) to ensure correct and effective implementation, and manage the deployment of autonomous capabilities into operational environments, ensuring reliability and usability.
• Ensure seamless integration across sensors, control systems, data platforms, and analytics layers. Coordinate integration between Operational Technology (OT) and IT systems to enable real-time and intelligent operations, and resolve technical dependencies and system interoperability challenges.
• Ensure high performance, reliability, and resilience of autonomous systems. Define monitoring frameworks, operational performance benchmarks, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Ensure solutions comply with safety standards and operational risk requirements, particularly in industrial environments.
• Ensure all solutions comply with enterprise governance frameworks, cybersecurity requirements, and regulatory standards. Identify and manage risks related to autonomous systems deployment and scaling, and support architecture and technical reviews to ensure compliance and quality.
• Collaborate with Innovation, Operations, Engineering, and Data & AI teams to ensure integrated delivery. Translate business and operational requirements into technical autonomous platform solutions, and provide technical guidance to influence decision-making across stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement of autonomous platform capabilities, tools, and methodologies. Identify and assess emerging technologies such as AI-driven automation, robotics, digital twins, and edge computing, and support innovation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and value realization.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• 8–10 years of experience in autonomous systems, robotics, industrial automation, or advanced technology environments.
• Proven experience in designing or implementing autonomous or semi-autonomous platforms.
• 5–8 years of experience in database development, data engineering, or analytics environments.
• Experience in designing and managing data marts, relational databases, and data warehouse environments.
