We are seeking a Liferay Frontend Developer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for a full-time position. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining user-facing experiences within Liferay DXP, including custom themes, layouts, and reusable components. The developer will collaborate closely with backend developers, UX/UI designers, and content teams to deliver polished, responsive, and performant Liferay-based portals.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and customize Liferay themes utilizing Freemarker templates, theme CSS/SASS, and Liferay's client-side build tools.
• Build and maintain custom widgets/portlets and client extensions to enhance Liferay's out-of-the-box functionality.
• Implement responsive, accessible, and bilingual/RTL-ready page layouts using Liferay's Page Builder and Experience pages.
• Integrate frontend components with Liferay's Fragment and Application Display Templates (ADTs) for content-driven pages.
• Consume Liferay's Headless APIs as required for dynamic or JavaScript-driven components.
• Configure and customize Liferay's navigation, site structure, and page templates.
• Optimize frontend performance, including asset bundling, caching, and lazy loading, within the Liferay rendering pipeline.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate design systems into reusable Liferay theme components and fragments.
• Troubleshoot rendering, layout, and performance issues specific to the Liferay platform.
• Stay updated with Liferay DXP release updates and apply relevant frontend best practices.
• Provide support to content editors and administrators regarding content structure mapping to frontend presentation.

Required Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of frontend development experience, specifically including hands-on work with Liferay themes, fragments, widgets, and ADTs.
• Strong proficiency in Freemarker templating, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript (ES 6+).
• Demonstrated experience with Liferay's client-side build tools (*, Liferay JS Toolkit, Yeoman generators, or Liferay Workspace).
• Understanding of Liferay's Page Builder, Fragments, and Content/Experience pages.
• Familiarity with Liferay's permissions and roles model as it pertains to frontend behavior.
• Solid grasp of responsive design principles, accessibility standards (WCAG AA), and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience working with bilingual and RTL-aware interfaces is considered an advantage.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with backend developers on portlet and module integration.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Liferay Application Developer Certified (LAD) or Building Enterprise Websites with Liferay (BEWL) certification.
• Experience integrating modern JavaScript frameworks (such as React or Vue) within Liferay via Client Extensions.
• Familiarity with Liferay's Headless Delivery and Content APIs for hybrid headless/traditional implementations.
• Experience with Liferay Workspace, Gradle/Maven build setups, and Liferay DXP Cloud deployments.
• Exposure to design systems and componentized theme architecture.

Work Environment and Collaboration

The Liferay Frontend Developer will operate within a collaborative team environment, working closely with UX/UI designers, backend developers, and content teams. This full-time role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, contributing to projects that automate business processes and optimize data usage for Sword Group's clients.
