About the Role

The Esports Foundation is seeking a Manager Competitive Governance to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Foundation's competitive governance structures across major events such as the Esports World Cup, Esports Nations Cup, and related competitions. The position requires a blend of strong project execution, structured thinking, and effective stakeholder management within a dynamic environment.

Core Responsibilities

As a key execution partner and sounding board to the Director Competitive Governance, you will be responsible for translating strategic directions into actionable deliverables and ensuring the smooth progression of governance initiatives. Your duties will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of competitive governance workstreams, ensuring tasks are structured, tracked, and completed on time.
  • Translating strategic priorities and discussions into clear action plans, deliverables, timelines, and follow-ups.
  • Creating and maintaining project plans, governance trackers, decision logs, issue logs, risk registers, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Driving the preparation of materials for internal meetings, workshops, leadership updates, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Supporting the design and refinement of competitive governance structures, including decision-making processes and roles.
  • Contributing to the development of governance frameworks for competitions involving clubs, national teams, players, and external partners.
  • Benchmarking governance models from various sports organizations and competition organizers to identify best practices.

Competitive Integrity and Stakeholder Coordination

This role also involves upholding competitive integrity and fostering strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. Key tasks include:

  • Preparing high-quality presentations, briefing documents, and leadership updates that communicate complex governance topics clearly.
  • Structuring narratives, recommendations, and decision papers for senior stakeholders.
  • Supporting the implementation of competitive governance and integrity policies covering fair play, anti-cheating, match-fixing, doping, and disciplinary matters.
  • Assisting with documentation, process design, and stakeholder coordination related to incident handling and governance decisions.
  • Acting as a day-to-day coordination point for internal and external stakeholders on competitive governance matters.
  • Supporting engagement with clubs, players, national teams, and other participants on governance expectations and compliance.
  • Maintaining governance documentation, workstream trackers, issue logs, and reporting tools.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should possess the following educational background and professional experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, International Relations, Sports Law, Governance, Compliance, Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in consulting, governance, sports business, regulatory environments, or a related field.

Required Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong combination of the following skills and attributes:

  • Background in consulting firms, particularly with exposure to sports or governance, is highly preferred.
  • Strong project execution skills, including the ability to drive workstreams, track actions, and deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Consulting-style problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous topics into clear work plans.
  • Excellent presentation (deck-building) and storytelling skills, capable of preparing polished, senior-level materials.
  • Strong written communication skills for creating briefing notes, reports, decision papers, and process documents.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with frameworks, trackers, dashboards, and structured reporting tools.
  • Ability to act as a sounding board, constructively challenge ideas, and help shape practical recommendations.
  • Good understanding of sport, sports business, major sports events, governance, federations, or competition environments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with legal, operational, commercial, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple workstreams concurrently.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, international, and event-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of esports or gaming is considered a plus, but is not essential.
