About the Role

Alfanar is seeking a Manager, Strategy Management Office (SMO) to lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the organization's strategic plan. Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this full-time role is critical for ensuring alignment between strategic objectives and operational execution, supporting performance management, and enabling informed decision-making across departments. The Manager SMO will ensure that all business plans are aligned with Alfanar Electric's overarching strategy, requiring 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with executive leadership to develop and periodically update the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Lead strategic planning workshops and alignment sessions across various departments.
  • Ensure departmental plans and initiatives are fully aligned with corporate objectives and Alfanar Electric strategy.
  • Design and implement corporate performance management frameworks, including KPIs and the Balanced Scorecard.
  • Monitor and analyze the execution of strategic objectives, providing insights through regular performance reporting and proposing corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain SMO governance frameworks, policies, and reporting standards.
  • Prepare executive-level reports and dashboards to communicate strategic progress and performance.
  • Contribute to the management of the strategic project portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and working with the PMO to monitor timelines and deliverables.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison between senior leadership and business units, promoting engagement and fostering alignment among stakeholders.
  • Continuously benchmark and assess best practices in strategy management to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Managerial Accountabilities

  • Recruit, recognize, and cultivate high performers to build a robust second line of management.
  • Recognize low performers and provide guidance for improvement or manage their release.
  • Ensure fair and non-discriminatory treatment of subordinates, with performance-based assessment criteria.
  • Maintain a delegation of authority matrix to ensure sufficient delegations per company policy.
  • Take full responsibility for operations, anticipate problems, and make timely, proactive decisions.
  • Deliver required results in a timely manner, meeting quality and cost standards.
  • Make a tangible difference in the area of operation, aiming to exceed business expectations.

Strategic and Operational Impact

  • Transform corporate goals into actionable business plans, and oversee their planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Monitor plan performance, initiate actions to strengthen results, and implement corrective measures.
  • Provide periodic work progress reports and manage budgets and expenses for optimum cost efficiency.
  • Develop the organizational structure based on current and future requirements.
  • Ensure the availability and deployment of job descriptions for all roles.
  • Develop and coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, and procedures, seeking automation opportunities.
  • Be conversant with and able to navigate IT solutions relevant to the role and business, promoting their full utilization.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for the Manager SMO position should possess 5-10 years of experience in strategy management, strategic planning, or a related field. The role requires demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing teams and driving strategic initiatives. Essential skills include strong analytical abilities, proficiency in performance management frameworks, excellent communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
