About the Role

King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital (KAAUH) in Riyadh is seeking a dedicated and experienced OB/GYNE Consultant (MFM) for a full-time position. This role involves providing the highest standard of patient care, actively participating in training and teaching programs, diagnosing and treating diseases within the specialty, and effectively managing medical resources. A critical aspect of this position requires physical presence in the delivery room 24/7.

Core Responsibilities

The OB/GYNE Consultant (MFM) will uphold KAAUH's mission, vision, and values while performing a broad range of duties, including:

  • Exercising the highest possible standard of patient care according to clinical privileges and available resources.
  • Participating in the hospital's training and teaching programs.
  • Diagnosing and treating diseases within their area of expertise and function.
  • Managing medical resources and educating junior staff in Women's Health.
  • Ensuring physical presence in the delivery room twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Providing clear, understandable health-related information to patients and their families.
  • Respecting patients and their families to promote a patient-centered care culture.
  • Participating in and supporting quality improvement and patient safety activities.

Clinical Practice and Patient Care

Clinical duties are central to this role, encompassing comprehensive patient care across various settings:

  • Providing patient care at the consultant level, including consultation services, follow-up care, performing procedures, and sharing on-call duties.
  • Delivering patient care in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, the emergency room, operation room, day unit, and intensive care units.
  • Practicing patient care in accordance with up-to-date best practices and scientific evidence.
  • Abiding by KAAUH quality improvement initiatives, ensuring a safe healing environment and compliance with hospital accreditation requirements.
  • Empowering patients and their families to become active partners in their health and wellness.
  • Supervising residents under their responsibility, contributing to their professional development and providing performance feedback.

Administrative, Educational, and Research Contributions

Beyond direct patient care, the consultant will contribute significantly to the hospital's administrative, educational, and research objectives:

  • Undertaking administrative duties related to patient care, such as developing Clinical Management Guidelines, Clinical Pathways, and Evidence-Based Best Practices.
  • Participating in Quality Assurance and Improvement activities, including audits, peer reviews, and Morbidity & Mortality rounds.
  • Fulfilling administrative requirements for departmental development, including procurement, medical staff recruitment, policy development, and committee membership.
  • Participating in general undergraduate and post-graduate teaching activities and providing regular teaching to all team members.
  • Engaging in educational activities such as Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, and daily morning meetings.
  • Ensuring continuous professional development and maintaining CME recertification requirements.
  • Participating in research activities within the department/hospital and working towards scientific publications.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this consultant position:

  • Board/Fellowship Certificate in the appropriate specialty, recognized by SCHS and acceptable to KAAUH, or current SCHS Registration/License or equivalent, or meeting SCFHS criteria for Consultant rank.
  • Certificate in Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO).
  • Three (3) years of training in the field of a specialty recognized by SCFHS and acceptable to KAAUH.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience post board/fellowship certification.
  • Alternatively, one (1) or more years of post board/fellowship specialty training outside Saudi Arabia in internationally accredited institutes, or graduate with board certificates and training with two (2) years of full-time employment as a consultant.
