Protection Engineer Electrical

About the Role

FNRCO is seeking two experienced Protection Engineers Electrical to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires strong hands-on expertise in protection relay testing, commissioning, configuration, and troubleshooting, as well as medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) switchgear testing. Candidates must possess a valid NG C1 Permit Receiver Authorization and be capable of working independently at customer sites, particularly NG–SEC facilities, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and technical compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform testing, commissioning, configuration, and troubleshooting of electrical protection relays.
• Conduct testing and verification of MV and LV switchgear systems.
• Perform Current Transformer (CT) and Voltage Transformer (VT) testing.
• Conduct protection relay (PR) testing and functional verification.
• Perform circuit breaker (CB) timing tests and verify operating performance.
• Test and verify electrical interlocking schemes and protection control circuits.
• Identify faults, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare test reports, commissioning records, and technical documentation.
• Ensure all testing and commissioning activities comply with applicable safety procedures, client requirements, and technical standards.
• Work independently at customer sites and coordinate effectively with client representatives and technical teams.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should have 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field and demonstrate strong practical experience with the following:

• Protection Relay Testing: Experience with Siemens SIPROTEC 5, Siemens SIPROTEC 4, and Reyrolle protection relays is essential. Experience with ABB, GE, Schneider Electric, and SEL (Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories) protection relay manufacturers is also required or highly desirable.
• Medium-Voltage (MV) Switchgear Testing: Proven hands-on experience in MV switchgear testing and commissioning, including Current Transformer (CT) testing, Voltage Transformer (VT) testing, Protection Relay (PR) testing, Circuit Breaker (CB) timing tests, and interlocking scheme testing and verification.
• Low-Voltage (LV) Switchgear Testing: Practical experience in LV switchgear testing, inspection, and functional verification, including CT testing, VT testing (where applicable), protection relay checks, electrical scheme verification, functional testing, and troubleshooting.

Technical Compliance

The role requires adherence to high standards of safety, quality, and technical compliance. Candidates must be capable of preparing comprehensive test reports, commissioning records, and technical documentation that meet client requirements and industry standards.

Work Environment

This position involves working independently at various customer sites, primarily NG–SEC facilities. Effective coordination with client representatives and technical teams is crucial for successful project execution.
