About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join their team in Riyadh and Ad Dir'iyah. This full-time role involves managing the purchasing operations, ensuring adherence to established procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, distributing, and payment of items. The manager will also be responsible for formulating and maintaining an approved vendor list across all categories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate accurate and timely reports and presentations.
  • Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, and verify information or data.
  • Ensure sanitation compliance and maintain sanitation and safety standards as specified in brand guidelines.
  • Assist the Executive Chef with all aspects of purchasing, including food, beverage, and controllable items, to ensure quality and profitability.
  • Order all food and beverage based on business needs and assist in maintaining/lowering budgeted food/controllable costs.
  • Delegate and enforce first-in/first-out inventory rotation for all storeroom products.
  • Implement proper safeguards for the security of food and beverage storeroom assets.
  • Communicate with kitchen, restaurant management, and vendors to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Check invoices against shipments to verify quantity, quality, weights, and purchase specifications.
  • Utilize computer programs for daily and period-end food and beverage cost calculations.
  • Maintain inventory controls for proper levels, dating, rotation, and requisitions.
  • Complete administrative tasks, including C-7s, menu costing, and general office duties, on a timely basis.
  • Conduct period-end inventory according to Food and Beverage and Accounting standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure that price and product availability issues are communicated to the F&B Director and Executive Chef.
  • Receive and inspect all deliveries, maintaining an accurate controllable log and beverage perpetual.
  • Ensure accurate administration of all invoices and adherence to proper bookkeeping procedures.

Accounting and Financial Management

  • Apply knowledge of job-relevant issues, products, systems, and processes to purchasing operations.
  • Use computer systems for programming, data entry, and information processing.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Submit reports in a timely manner and ensure accurate documentation of profits and losses.
  • Monitor applicable taxes, ensuring they are current, collected, and/or accrued.
  • Coordinate and implement accounting work and projects, including audits for all property operations.
  • Balance ledgers and provide direction on accounting and budgeting policies.

Operational Support and Leadership

  • Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others, advocating sound financial/business decision-making.
  • Address disciplinary situations promptly and consistently.
  • Ensure timely completion of performance reviews for supervisors and non-management employees.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the brand's business strategy.
  • Review comment cards, guest satisfaction results, and other data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in property walk-throughs to ensure maintenance and preventative measures are in place.
  • Communicate departmental goals clearly and consistently to achieve desired results.

Customer and Guest Experience

  • Provide excellent customer service by being readily available and approachable for all customers and guests.
  • Take proactive approaches when dealing with customer and guest concerns.
  • Extend professionalism and courtesy to customers and guests at all times.
  • Respond timely to customer service department requests and ensure all team members meet hospitality requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of 0-1 year of relevant experience.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Proficiency in using computer programs to post invoices, update items, and costs.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management.
  • Ability to manage group or interpersonal conflict.
  • Commitment to implementing property emergency plans and maintaining a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA/MSDS.
