The Role of Restaurant General Manager

Bayt Al-Tawabel is seeking an experienced Restaurant General Manager to oversee the overall operations, guest experience, team performance, and commercial results of a premium restaurant in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position requires a hands-on hospitality leader with a strong floor presence and a commercial mindset. The successful candidate will manage end-to-end restaurant operations within an upper casual, premium casual, or fine dining environment, ensuring a consistently elevated guest experience while maintaining operational discipline, profitability, team development, compliance, and brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations and ensure operational excellence across all service periods.
• Maintain a visible floor presence to ensure service standards and guest expectations are met.
• Manage the overall guest journey, from arrival to departure, and handle complaints professionally.
• Build relationships with VIP and regular guests, supporting recognition and loyalty initiatives.
• Lead, coach, and develop the restaurant management and service teams, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
• Ensure effective coordination between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
• Oversee restaurant commercial performance, including revenue, profitability, COGS, and labor costs.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting, analyzing performance against targets, and implementing corrective actions.
• Monitor inventory, wastage, stock control, and cost-management practices.
• Ensure full compliance with SOPs, brand standards, food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and local regulatory requirements.
• Maintain restaurant readiness through pre-service briefings, opening/closing procedures, and regular audits.
• Ensure effective use of restaurant systems and technology, including POS, reservation, and CRM platforms.
• Collaborate with Operations, Culinary, Finance, HR, Marketing, and other support functions.
• Provide accurate and timely operational and commercial reports to management.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in guest satisfaction, team performance, and profitability.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for this role will operate beyond managing shifts, demonstrating the ability to own the restaurant as a business. This includes understanding the financial aspects of operations, leading the team from the floor, protecting the guest experience, and consistently maintaining brand and operational standards. The successful candidate will combine hospitality excellence with commercial discipline, recognizing that a premium restaurant's success depends equally on its guests, people, product, operations, and financial performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in restaurant management.
• Proven ability to manage end-to-end restaurant operations within an upper casual, premium casual, or fine dining environment.
• Demonstrated commercial mindset and strong leadership skills.
