About the Opportunity

King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH) in Riyadh is seeking a Safety Manager to lead its Safety Section. This full-time role is central to ensuring a work environment that upholds stringent quality and safety standards, contributing to the hospital's reliable and efficient operation.

Role Purpose and Context

The Safety Manager is responsible for maintaining a work environment free from foreseeable safety risks and implementing effective risk reduction activities across the hospital. This position ensures continuous compliance with critical safety and quality standards, including JCI, CBAHI, OSHA, and NFPA, safeguarding both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the strategic and operational planning for Safety services.
  • Prepare unit budgets in accordance with KKESH requirements.
  • Update and maintain hospital-wide safety policies and procedures.
  • Implement the hospital-wide general safety program.
  • Plan, implement, and coordinate safety educational programs, including in-services and safety training.
  • Manage workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate safety hazards.
  • Advise all employees on safety, regulations, codes, and standards based on the latest JCI and CBAHI guidelines.
  • Constantly review JCIA and CBAHI standards and updates, ensuring policies and procedures reflect new requirements.
  • Review and recommend solutions for all safety-related incident reports and follow up on accidents and incidents in coordination with concerned parties.
  • Observe and monitor contractor performance from a safety perspective, taking necessary actions.
  • Maintain and update the Emergency Preparedness Plan, Safety Manual, Hazardous Surveillance Program, and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and report findings to the Director of Facility Management and Safety.
  • Prepare written reports and statistical analyses on hospital-wide safety activities and problems for submission and presentation to the Environment of Care Committee.
  • Review maintenance requests and approve them when requested.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, including incident reports, training logs, inspection checklists, and compliance documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Safety and Occupational Health, Engineering, or an equivalent field from an accredited university.
  • Certifications: Safety Certifications such as OSHA, CHSP, NFPA, or NEBOSH are desirable.
  • Registration: Essential to be registered with the Saudi Council for Engineers.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in safety management.
