The Role: Security Engineer Intern

Cognna is seeking a motivated Security Engineer Intern to join its Security Engineering team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This internship, requiring 0-1 years of experience, focuses on the development, integration, and operation of tools and platforms that support security operations. The role involves connecting data sources, automating workflows, and enhancing capabilities for risk detection, management, and response.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the integration and onboarding of new data sources, tools, and platforms into the security stack.
• Assist in configuring, tuning, and maintaining log collection, detection, and alerting pipelines across on-premise and cloud environments.
• Aid in deploying and integrating tooling for investigation, evidence collection, and forensic analysis during security incidents.
• Support the rollout and integration of vulnerability scanning tools, and help track, prioritize, and report on findings across systems.
• Contribute to securing and integrating tooling across cloud infrastructure, including identity, access, and configuration management.
• Write scripts and automation to connect tools, reduce manual work, and improve data flow between security systems.
• Research and prototype new tools, integrations, or workflows to enhance the team's detection, response, and risk management capabilities.
• Prepare clear technical documentation and reports summarizing integrations, findings, and recommendations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of networking, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and core security concepts.
• Familiarity with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and tool integration.
• Interest in APIs and system integration, focusing on connecting different tools and platforms for smooth data flow.
• Strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and a genuine interest in security engineering.
• Good communication skills and the ability to document technical work clearly.

Work Environment

This is an internship position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will join the Security Engineering team and contribute to projects that enhance the company's security operations and services.
