Senior Auditor

About the Role

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority is seeking a Senior Auditor to join their team in Riyadh, Riyadh. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of experience and involves operating with minimal supervision to prepare complex, specialized, or unplanned reports relevant to tax auditing.

Role Purpose and Scope

The Senior Auditor plays a crucial role in achieving operational objectives within the tax auditing domain. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive tax audits on senior VAT taxpayers, encompassing both field and desk audits. The primary goal is to identify non-compliance and determine actual tax liability, ensuring adherence to applicable policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor industry-specific developments, news, and updates (*, business, insurance, telecommunications, consumer goods) to stay informed about new tax practices adopted by companies and integrate them into assessments and audit reviews.
• Maintain and update senior taxpayer manuals, declarations, eligibility criteria, legal requirements, and supporting documents by taxpayer type, incorporating them into computer-aided audit tools for efficient evaluation and review.
• Unify, classify, and prioritize audit schedules for major taxpayers, categorizing them by industry type, and ensuring timely distribution to relevant audit teams for evaluation and review.
• Conduct full tax audit transactions within the Kingdom, verifying the validity of legal documents submitted by senior taxpayers, reviewing returns and records, and ensuring document completeness before assessing tax liability.
• Coordinate with account managers to facilitate prompt communication with senior taxpayers regarding auditor requests, clarifications, and required documents.
• Perform office audit activities, engaging with stakeholders such as account managers, taxpayers, banks, audit offices, and government bodies to gather necessary information and clarifications. Liaise with the Legal Affairs Department regarding contractual structures to confirm applicant legitimacy.
• Undertake comprehensive data collection to understand taxpayers' operational fields, including industry practices, business structure, size, activities, operational quality, and accounting systems. Research general news, articles, databases, and shared channels to obtain relevant information.

Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in auditing.
• Demonstrated ability to operate with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in preparing complex, specialized, or unplanned reports.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, within the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority. The role involves both field and desk audit activities, requiring coordination with various internal and external stakeholders.
