About the Role

Dar Al Riyadh Consultants is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with specialized expertise in power and low voltage systems. This full-time position is based in Riyadh and requires a professional with extensive experience in electrical design, technical review, and grid-interconnection projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review electrical scopes of work, design criteria, technical specifications, and employer requirements.
  • Review electrical designs from consultants, including single-line diagrams, load schedules, and engineering calculations.
  • Conduct reviews of load-flow, short-circuit, protection-coordination, cable-sizing, voltage-drop, and earthing studies.
  • Lead the technical review and follow-up for electrical grid-interconnection projects.
  • Review incoming power supplies, substations, MV feeders, RMUs, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and utility-metering interfaces.
  • Coordinate with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and other authorities on connection requirements, design approvals, protection settings, interfaces, and energisation.
  • Review technical submittals, shop drawings, equipment selections, Bills of Quantities, and proposed design modifications.
  • Assess power-distribution and low-voltage systems to ensure capacity, selectivity, reliability, and safety.
  • Provide technical support during design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and energisation phases.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces among the utility provider, consultant, contractor, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor design progress and ensure timely closure of technical comments and outstanding approvals.
  • Resolve electrical design, connection, protection, and system-interface issues.
  • Ensure designs comply with Saudi regulations, SEC requirements, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and applicable international standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, review comments, design-risk registers, and engineering recommendations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant electrical engineering experience is required.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in electrical design, technical review, and grid-interconnection projects is essential.
  • Strong experience with MV distribution systems, substations, transformers, RMUs, switchgear, protection systems, metering, and utility interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, voltage drop, cable sizing, and earthing.
  • Practical experience coordinating electrical connections with SEC or another major Saudi utility provider is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in engineering consultancy, design review, owner-side technical support, or an engineering design department is preferred.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of SEC requirements, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and relevant Saudi regulations.
  • Excellent technical-reporting, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
