About the Role

Al-Futtaim is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to the company's financial operations, focusing on the accurate and timely recognition, recording, and reporting of revenue. The position requires adherence to IFRS 15 and internal policies, with a strong emphasis on maintaining financial controls and providing critical insights into revenue performance.

Role Overview

The Senior Financial Accountant will own the revenue close cycle, collaborating with Sales, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure contract terms are accurately reflected in financial statements. This role involves rigorous control over billing and receivables, alongside conducting variance analysis and preparing management reports. Success in this position requires a strong control mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively during financial close cycles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply IFRS 15 to customer contracts, including identifying performance obligations, allocating transaction price, and determining recognition timing.
  • Review new and amended contracts for revenue accounting implications such as variable consideration, discounts, rebates, and multiple-element arrangements.
  • Prepare and post monthly revenue journals, accruals, deferrals, and unbilled revenue adjustments, and maintain deferred revenue and contract balance roll-forwards.
  • Manage the revenue and receivables close at month-end, quarter-end, and year-end, including balance sheet reconciliations for all revenue-related accounts.
  • Perform revenue variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods, contributing to management reporting and statutory disclosures.
  • Oversee billing accuracy, monitor AR ageing and expected credit loss provisions, and operate internal controls over the order-to-cash cycle.
  • Act as the primary contact for auditors on revenue matters, support system and process improvements, and coach junior accountants.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in financial accounting.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of IFRS 15.
  • Proven ability to manage financial close cycles and meet deadlines.
