The Role of Senior Landscape Architect
AECOM is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect for a full-time position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role involves leading and managing landscape design projects, ensuring adherence to design principles and technical standards, and contributing to project delivery from conception through to technical packages. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in landscape architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, coordinate, and lead smaller, less complex landscape design projects independently, including team structuring and deployment based on project fees.
- Lead client meetings and take ownership of deliverable structure and content.
- Interpret, quantify, and graphically represent public realm standards, sustainability standards, and regulatory guidelines applicable to projects.
- Demonstrate knowledge of public realm design principles and translate vision frameworks into actionable principles and objectives.
- Provide clear descriptive writing for landscape design principles and guidelines.
- Participate in internal and external workshops, prepare summary outcome reports, and lead design teams in preparing workshop materials and client presentations.
- Deliver designs and entire technical landscape packages independently with senior team review.
- Understand authorities' requirements and coordinate technical inputs from various disciplines.
- Possess a full understanding of regional planting and irrigation requirements, standards, and guidelines.
- Learn to manage project financial status reports from Project Managers and leads.
- Provide updates for weekly studio and resourcing meetings.
- Review landscape cost plans on projects, demonstrating fair market knowledge.
- Gain site experience on ongoing landscape-built projects and assist in resolving key issues with senior team support.
- Support bid preparation by developing technical approaches and methodologies, coordinating input, and implementing commercial aspects.
- Organize internal libraries and update project sheets for ongoing projects.
- Develop innovative design ideas and solutions using digital tools and personal skills.
- Advocate for and apply quality procedures for landscape design technical practice, including self-checks and reviews of deliverables.
- Enhance standards of developed landscape design graphics (diagrams, Photoshop, Lumion renders) and document them for wider team use.
- Orient, integrate, guide, and mentor new landscape recruits, providing access to relevant sample material and projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5-10 years of experience in landscape architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and lead teams.
- Proficiency in public realm design principles and regulatory guidelines.
- Experience with technical landscape packages and authority requirements.
- Understanding of planting and irrigation standards specific to the region.
- Familiarity with project financial management.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in digital design tools and graphic enhancement.
