About the Senior Manager AE Merchant Retail CoE Role
Visa is seeking a Senior Manager AE Merchant Retail CoE to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is central to developing Merchant Partnerships across the retail segment within the CEMEA region. The role involves acting as the regional subject-matter authority, focused on driving differentiated value for Visa’s top retail merchants.
Strategic Focus and Mission
The core mission of this role is to combine data-driven insights, product expertise, commercialization strategy, and best-practice replication across markets. The Senior Manager will be responsible for managing assigned client relationships, developing new businesses, and overseeing program implementations. This position requires leadership, vision, and creativity to develop the overall strategy, drive the expansion of Visa products and solutions, and lead the commercialization of Visa’s business development objectives to deliver solutions and help clients meet their business goals.
Core Responsibilities
- Act as the retail Subject Matter Expert (SME) on industry trends, payment flows, and retail economics.
- Develop and execute customized account strategies, objectives, and plans to increase revenue and market share for select strategic partner accounts in CEMEA.
- Conduct executive-level pitches and workshops.
- Manage RFP responses and negotiation strategy.
- Develop business casing and monetization models.
- Lead selected strategic regional or global retail merchant engagements directly.
- Identify, document, and replicate winning use cases across markets and retail verticals.
- Enable markets by providing templates, frameworks, benchmarks, and case studies.
- Build forums and communities of practice across retail specialists.
- Lead account and relationship management and sales plans for assigned accounts, ensuring client business objectives are met.
- Support the development, negotiation, and signing of proposals by collaborating with internal stakeholders and strategic partner executives.
- Own and manage a portfolio of Merchant Partnerships within the retail vertical, identifying new and ongoing requirements, introducing new products or services, and growing the business.
- Conduct financial and business analysis of strategic opportunities for Visa capabilities that increase revenue for both parties through a deep understanding of partners’ business and evolving industry context, including payment strategy and solutions.
- Serve as an internal and external thought leader responsible for communicating Visa's and merchant partnership vision, strategy, and perspective within a rapidly evolving industry.
- Partner with peers in other functional areas (*, marketing, analytics, risk, innovation) and across regional teams to execute projects that leverage the breadth and depth of Visa's resources.
- Continuously review the CEMEA landscape, identifying and developing partnerships, venture, or acquisition opportunities that will position Visa as a market leader.
Required Experience and Skills
- 5-10 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in sales and business development within a B2B environment.
- Relevant experience in the credit cards issuing business.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a complex, cross-functional, and matrix environment.
Organizational Context and Collaboration
This role is situated within the merchant organization, part of the broader Merchant, Global Client, Tech partners and Acquiring team. It involves extensive collaboration with various Visa functions, including solutions, consulting & analytics, finance, merchant sales, issuer relationship, customer support, and marketing. The position also requires engagement with key client executives externally.
