About the Role

As a Senior Network & Systems Engineer - Lead at Amazon Saudi Arabia (ex-Souq) in Riyadh, you will leverage your technical knowledge and specialized skills to support, build, implement, and improve technology solutions across sites within a defined geographical area. This full-time role involves managing large projects with minimal guidance that affect multiple locations in the region, resolving customer issues in crisis situations, and actively expanding your scope into advanced software design patterns, data structures, AWS technologies, and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive network excellence through advanced engineering, troubleshooting, and systems administration across multiple facilities.
• Maintain critical systems uptime and serve as the first escalation point for complex technical issues.
• Troubleshoot difficult IT problems without established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and resolve incidents under time pressure.
• Plan and coordinate Change Management (CMs) and CM templates across the region.
• Provide expert technical support across multiple buildings and remote sites, including on-call support beyond business hours during critical incidents to ensure minimal downtime.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a wide variety of stakeholders.

Technical Leadership and Project Execution

This position requires complete networking expertise, including proficiency with routers, switches, firewalls, wireless APs, structured cabling, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, TCP/IP, subnetting, and network security protocols. You will lead and execute regional technical projects from conception to completion with minimal guidance, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to deliver infrastructure improvements and technology rollouts. Responsibilities also include automating manual tasks, creating and improving tools to increase team efficiency, and managing large-scale initiatives impacting multiple sites within the region. You will conduct root cause analysis to resolve recurring challenges, lead continuous improvement efforts across processes, documentation, and tooling, and design and implement efficient IT solutions while developing and maintaining technical documentation and SOPs.

Team Development and Quality Assurance

As a Lead, you will play a role in the professional growth and quality standards of the team. This involves participating in the hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development of team members. You will audit work quality, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers. Additionally, you will present training sessions and partner with development teams on complex issues.
