About the Role

SmartChoice International GCC is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time role involves building the shared technology foundation that engineering teams utilize to develop, integrate, and operate modern applications. The position requires 5-10 years of experience.

Role Context and Impact

This is a hands-on role encompassing platform architecture, backend services, developer tooling, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and AI-enabled systems. The Senior Platform Engineer will create reusable capabilities to enable engineering teams to operate efficiently, addressing common integration, orchestration, security, and operational challenges. The role involves significant ownership in establishing patterns, interfaces, and standards for other engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build shared platform services, APIs, SDKs, and engineering tooling.
• Develop orchestration capabilities for applications involving multiple services, tools, models, and workflows.
• Build reliable interfaces for consistent consumption of shared capabilities.
• Integrate AI models and supporting services into reusable platform capabilities.
• Develop secure, identity-aware services with enforced authentication and authorization.
• Create reusable templates, libraries, examples, and automation to accelerate application development.
• Provide common capabilities for both interactive applications and programmatic consumers.
• Establish standards for API design, service contracts, versioning, testing, and observability.
• Build tracing, monitoring, and operational controls into platform services.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and security of services.
• Identify recurring engineering problems and translate them into reusable platform solutions.
• Improve developer experience by reducing friction and increasing self-service across engineering teams.
• Review code, document technical decisions, and help establish engineering standards across the platform.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess strong technical depth and platform thinking, with the ability to translate complex engineering requirements into simple, reusable capabilities. The role requires comfort with ambiguity, architectural trade-offs, and building secure, reliable, and functional systems for engineers.

• 5-10 years of experience in a relevant engineering role.
• Demonstrated experience building internal platforms in production environments.
• Experience building production AI or agent-based systems is highly desirable.

Relevant AI and Application Platform Experience

Relevant experience may include:

• Agent orchestration and workflow systems.
• Tool calling and integration between AI services and business applications.
• Model gateways and provider integrations.
• Retrieval and data-access capabilities.
• Evaluation, tracing, and guardrails for AI-enabled applications.
• Standardized interfaces for connecting applications, services, and tools.
• Familiarity with technologies such as LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Google ADK, or comparable frameworks.
