The Role: Senior Product Engineer DevOps

Tamara is seeking a Senior Product Engineer DevOps to join its Engineering team in Riyadh. This full-time role is central to establishing a reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure, enabling Tamaraโ€™s developers to deliver products efficiently and confidently. The engineer will leverage expertise in infrastructure, developer platforms, and cloud-native technologies to implement and optimize core platform capabilities, ensuring a robust foundation that supports the company's growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and enforce cloud foundation and security, including environment structure, network topology, IAM, access controls, organizational policies, private connectivity, data residency, and secret management.
  • Provision and manage Kubernetes clusters, implement cost-efficient autoscaling, and define deployment standards for teams.
  • Develop and maintain end-to-end CI/CD pipelines covering build, test, security scanning, and progressive rollout strategies (canary, blue-green).
  • Establish centralized observability solutions for metrics, logs, and traces to explain production behavior and enable self-service for service-owning teams.
  • Ensure resilience through tested backup and restore procedures and disaster recovery plans aligned with defined RTO/RPO.
  • Improve developer experience by identifying and resolving friction points and technical debt through automation and self-service solutions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident response, and conduct follow-up work to prevent recurrence.
  • Contribute to engineering practice through mentoring, technical reviews, runbooks, and architectural decision-making.
  • Define all infrastructure and configurations in code, utilizing tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of cloud technologies with production experience on a major provider such as GCP or AWS.
  • In-depth expertise in Kubernetes, including scheduling, networking, storage, and cluster behavior under failure conditions.
  • Proven experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines, including security scanning and progressive delivery techniques.
  • Deep expertise in Linux, networking, and distributed systems, with the ability to debug live production problems from symptom to root cause using metrics, logs, and traces.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading multiple concurrent initiatives, including surfacing risks, aligning stakeholders, and connecting platform decisions to delivery velocity and business outcomes.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, coupled with a commitment to mentoring others and enhancing engineering practices.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Experience in building or operating internal developer platforms, developer portals, service catalogs, or self-service infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with GitOps, service mesh, policy-as-code, regulated cloud environments, or multi-region cloud operations.
  • A driven, determined, and curious team player with a positive, solution-oriented outlook, demonstrating perseverance and adaptability in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams through empathy and respect, responding quickly and adapting course without losing momentum.

Work Type and Location

This is a full-time position based at Tamara's headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves collaborating with a diverse ecosystem of engineers, product managers, and infrastructure experts to enhance reliability and enable engineering autonomy across the company.
