About the Senior Staff Cyber Security Engineer Role

Qualcomm is seeking a Senior Staff Cyber Security Engineer to join its collaborative team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is dedicated to securing complex infrastructure and applications, involving continuous learning, sharing, and research. The position requires strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to learn and grow in a rapidly evolving environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical security lead for large datacenter and sovereign AI deployments, applying deep expertise in areas such as cryptography, key management, and secure architecture.
  • Design and operationalize Infrastructure Identity & PKI, producing detailed runbooks for operations to maintain end-to-end mTLS, manage certificate lifecycles, and secure private keys and secrets using a KMS.
  • Own perimeter security architecture and hands-on firewall operations, configuring and managing next-generation firewalls (*, Palo Alto, Fortinet) to enforce customer-driven ingress/egress policies and secure cluster boundaries.
  • Lead Data Sovereignty & Compliance assurance, auditing system architecture against applicable regulatory, cybersecurity, and data protection frameworks (***, KSA NCA ECC, Cloud Cybersecurity Controls (CCC), and PDPL).
  • Architect storage security controls in collaboration with operations, implementing encryption at rest and strict NFS/S3 access controls on VAST/DDN platforms.
  • Define Kubernetes & container security posture with software teams, establishing cluster security policies and enforcing pod security standards to isolate inference workloads.
  • Drive vulnerability management across the inference software stack, partnering with engineering teams to implement scanning, prioritization, and remediation of critical CVEs.
  • Lead Security Incident Response activities, acting as the primary escalation point for the Managed Security Service Provider (MSP), coordinating investigation, containment, remediation, and post-incident root cause analysis.
  • Lead security architecture reviews and root cause analyses, producing actionable findings and updates for senior leadership, and reviewing technical documentation and security architecture diagrams.
  • Design and enforce identity and access management controls across infrastructure and platforms, including user, service account, and workload identities.
  • Perform threat modeling and abuse case analysis for infrastructure, platform, and AI systems to identify attack paths and inform architecture decisions.
  • Proactively identify and prioritize complex security risks across systems and dependencies, working cross-functionally to execute mitigations and strengthen defenses.
  • Provide KSA on-site security leadership, interface directly with Humain’s security teams, participate in joint compliance audits, and support incident response to ensure deployments meet regional sovereign AI security mandates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience.
  • OR a High school diploma or equivalent with 6+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience.
  • Applications from candidates with equivalent experience will be considered, provided that the candidate can demonstrate an ability to fulfill the principal duties of the role and possesses the required competencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
  • 1+ year in a technical leadership role.
  • 1+ year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (*, Director level and above).
  • Cybersecurity-relevant certifications.
