Senior Structures Engineer

About the Role

Parsons is seeking a Senior Structures Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves leading a team responsible for reviewing feasibility studies and preliminary detailed engineering for various rail, at-ground structures, and stations within a major rail project. The Senior Structures Engineer will report to the Lead Civil Design Manager and will be a subject matter expert in structural systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Representing the design division for all structural engineering aspects of a major rail project.
• Leading and managing the structural engineering team, including task and responsibility assignment.
• Implementing and synchronizing structural engineering practices and standards across the program.
• Ensuring team compliance with engineering standards, codes, and procedures.
• Maintaining responsibility for structural engineering integrity.
• Leading external and internal coordination for structural design reviews.
• Reviewing shop drawings and construction-phase submittals requiring specific technical assistance.
• Conducting periodic reviews of design drawings and specifications as per PMP milestones.
• Performing constructability and maintainability reviews, particularly for structural systems and energy performance.
• Maintaining quality control and standards for all work outputs, including computations, designs, drawings, plans, estimates, and reports.
• Providing input on energy efficiency and performance standards.
• Developing, implementing, and enforcing QA/QC procedures for program-wide quality control.
• Writing detailed reports on structural engineering aspects of projects and conferring with project and program managers.
• Reviewing supplier drawing submittals and assisting with technical bid analyses.
• Supporting other discipline leads with structural input.
• Visiting project sites to collect structural engineering data and evaluate contractor performance.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of demonstrable experience in the design and construction of heavy civil engineering projects.
• Recent experience leading a project delivery team.
• Ability to operate as both a technical lead and a team member.
• Comprehensive knowledge of heavy civil structural engineering design and construction, with an understanding of its integration into complete projects.
• Experience with structural engineering software including SACS, Strucad, Ansys, Abaqus, Inventor, Nastran (Femap), and SAP 2000.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, along with excellent client management abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the design and detailing of complex transportation structures.
• High level of intellectual ability and strong decision-making and interpersonal skills.

Desired Skills

• Chartered member of IStructE, ICE, or equivalent.
• Experience in the design and construction of rail, metro, or related projects.
• Experience working in the GCC region.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, where the successful candidate will lead a team of structural engineers and inspectors, monitoring project schedules and quality of deliverables for a major rail initiative.
