About the Role

The National Medical Care Company (Care) is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience and involves assessing and communicating social factors related to patient illness, hospitalization, diagnosis, and recommended treatment to medical staff.

Role Overview

The Social Worker holds full responsibility for the social work aspects within integrated treatment programs. This includes providing continuous social work services to patients and their families as they adapt to illness or disability. The role involves managing a diverse caseload, with complex cases receiving active supervision to ensure superior quality of medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for every patient served at NMC Hospitals and Clinics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interview individuals to establish and assess the nature and extent of their problems, understanding present and potential consequences.
  • Develop initial plans that outline the content and direction of required services.
  • Prepare and maintain all file materials on each case, ensuring confidential records are not accessible to unauthorized individuals.
  • Provide assistance and services for concerned individuals, referring them to other medical or community resources and organizations as indicated.
  • Assist patients in understanding and modifying their own patterns of behavior when appropriate.
  • Consult with and/or inform concerned medical staff regarding social factors and other aspects to assure integrated treatment programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality on all casework study, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Participate in the development of overall social service program planning and in fostering public understanding and good working relationships.
  • Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Patient and Family Education

  • Educate patients and families as per their needs, implementing their full role regarding the patient and family education process as mentioned in relevant policies and procedures, including documentation in patient medical records.
  • Involve patients and families in the plan of care, respecting their goals and choices regarding patient care.
  • Provide health promotion and health teaching through methods appropriate to a patient’s developmental level, learning needs, readiness and ability to learn, language preference, culture, and situations.
  • Allot necessary time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education provided to patients and families, with appropriate documentation.

Reporting Structure and Professional Development

The Social Worker reports directly to the Director of Department and does not hold any supervisory responsibilities. This role requires continuous professional development, including staying current with new techniques, knowledge of Medical Services, external agency, and community resources.

Experience Requirements

Candidates for this position should possess 2-5 years of experience in social work, preferably within a healthcare or medical setting. The role demands strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to patient welfare, and the ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
