About the Role

Alfanar is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its facility team in Riyadh. This full-time role is central to ensuring the reliability, availability, and safe operation of mechanical production equipment. The engineer will achieve this through effective preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives, all while minimizing downtime and optimizing maintenance costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment breakdowns, providing technical support during critical incidents to minimize downtime.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive preventive maintenance plans, inspections, and checklists.
  • Monitor equipment condition, identify potential failures, and analyze recurring issues to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production schedules to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks based on equipment criticality and production needs.
  • Coordinate specialized maintenance activities with external contractors and service providers.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and equipment records.

Technical Expertise and Support

  • Read and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams to facilitate troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems, including rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, valves, and conveyors.
  • Conduct thorough root-cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Support equipment modifications and initiatives aimed at improving reliability.
  • Identify critical spare parts to ensure equipment availability and evaluate parts in coordination with suppliers for procurement.
  • Coordinate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers for technical support, repairs, and spare parts.
  • Support the identification of alternative suppliers to enhance availability and reduce costs.

Operational Accountability

  • Continuously obtain updated soft and technical skills relevant to the job.
  • Perform planned activities to meet operational and development targets within established delivery schedules, utilizing resources effectively to achieve objectives within efficient cost and time.
  • Provide periodic reports detailing deviations and execution of planned tasks.
  • Solve operational problems and escalate complex issues as required.
  • Ensure quality requirements are met, developing effective quality control processes and specifications for products or related activities.
  • Coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, and procedures, seeking automation opportunities where possible.
  • Comply with all related policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance engineering, with a strong background in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and root-cause analysis for industrial mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Proficiency in interpreting technical diagrams and a proven ability to manage maintenance operations are essential.

Safety, Quality, and Environment

This role requires performing all maintenance activities in strict accordance with safety procedures and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements. The engineer must ensure that all maintenance work meets quality, safety, and regulatory standards, and contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized working environment. Compliance with relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls within the defined area of work activity is paramount to guarantee legislative compliance and the delivery of high-quality products and services.
