About the Role

Alfanar Projects is seeking an experienced and technically proficient Sr Project Engineer – Substation (Electrical) to support the execution of 380kV Substation projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves coordinating electrical engineering activities, reviewing designs and technical documents, and ensuring project delivery aligns with approved specifications and schedules.

Role Overview

The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for coordinating with clients (including SEC), consultants, designers, vendors, and site teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in 380kV GIS substations, with comprehensive knowledge of primary electrical systems, substation equipment, SEC requirements, and project execution methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate electrical engineering activities for 380kV substation projects from engineering through construction and commissioning phases.
• Review project scope, specifications, drawings, tender documents, and technical requirements to ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with SEC, consultants, designers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal project teams on electrical engineering and technical matters.
• Review and coordinate primary electrical drawings, including SLDs, layouts, equipment arrangements, grounding, lightning protection, and related engineering documents.
• Review technical submittals, equipment specifications, material approvals, and vendor drawings.
• Coordinate installation, testing, and commissioning activities for major substation equipment such as 380kV GIS, power transformers, reactors, HV/MV switchgear, and protection and control systems.
• Ensure engineering and execution activities comply with SEC standards, approved drawings, project specifications, quality requirements, and HSE procedures.
• Support testing, commissioning, energization, and final handover activities.
• Ensure proper completion and submission of as-built drawings, turnover documents, test reports, and project closeout documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical substation projects.
• Strong experience in 380kV substation projects, preferably with SEC.
• Demonstrated experience with 380kV GIS, power transformers, reactors, HV/MV switchgear, and protection and control systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical substation engineering, installation, testing, and commissioning processes.
• Experience in engineering coordination, design review, material/equipment coordination, and project execution.
• Experience coordinating with SEC, consultants, vendors, designers, and subcontractors.
• Good understanding of SEC standards, specifications, and approval processes.
