System / Database Operations Lead Engineer

About the Role

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority is seeking an experienced System / Database Operations Lead Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is for professionals with 2-5 years of experience who can operate with general direction, developing solutions to complex challenges and addressing escalated issues.

Role Purpose and Scope

This position involves undertaking complex operational activities within ZATCA's IT systems and database environment. Key responsibilities include drafting operational guidelines and standards, leading the installation and configuration of software, hardware, and operating systems, and supervising the implementation of patches and vendor releases. The role also focuses on troubleshooting, providing technical support for complex incidents, and daily monitoring of systems and applications to ensure optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess current ZATCA systems and database operational models, identify gaps, and define areas for improvement in line with industry trends and standards.
• Gather business needs, oversee database design development, and finalize capacity plans to ensure project alignment.
• Perform daily operations of ZATCA systems and databases to maintain optimal performance.
• Oversee daily system and database operations, evaluate automation feasibility, and develop scripts for automating routine tasks where possible.
• Develop and implement maintenance plans in coordination with stakeholders to ensure optimal system performance.
• Provide support for junior team members in solving escalated problems and ensure efficient workflow.
• Escalate complex problems to relevant personnel for proper resolution.
• Train junior staff on job activities to facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign responsibilities, and monitor the workflow of subordinates.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop solutions requiring analysis and resolve issues escalated from junior levels.
• Experience in drafting IT systems and database operations guidelines and standards.
• Proficiency in leading installation, configuration, and upgrades of software, hardware, and operating systems.
• Experience with implementing operations and security patches, and managing vendor release notes.
• Strong skills in troubleshooting, identifying root causes, and providing technical support for complex incidents.
• Ability to monitor systems and applications daily and provide actionable recommendations.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority. The role involves working as part of a professional team, providing leadership and support to junior staff.
