System Integration Engineer Rail

About the Role

Egis is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to contribute to the design, modernization, and sustainment of integrations for a globally deployed identity and mobility platform. This is a full-time, hands-on engineering position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, requiring over 10 years of experience in building and operating complex system-to-system integrations.

Role Context and Focus

The role involves working with integrations across Java microservices, event-driven architectures, edge environments, and cloud platforms. The engineer will focus on both standards-based and custom integrations, connecting external data providers, identity and verification services, biometric and peripheral devices, access-control systems, and country- or customer-specific third-party platforms. The operational environment spans low-power edge clusters to large, centralized deployments and AWS cloud architectures. This position is suited for an engineer proficient in solving interoperability challenges, modernizing legacy interfaces, and developing resilient integrations under real-world network, performance, and operational constraints.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure, reliable integrations between a distributed platform and third-party systems using REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, secure file/data exchange, and device/peripheral interfaces.
• Modernize legacy integrations into Java-based microservices within a distributed platform architecture.
• Develop integrations across edge, data center, and AWS cloud deployment models.
• Engineer solutions with consideration for resilience, observability, auditability, latency, and intermittent/low-bandwidth network conditions.
• Integrate with government and commercial systems, including identity and verification services, traveler data platforms, biometric and document-capture peripherals, and access-control and gate systems.
• Define interface contracts, schemas, versioning strategies, retry/idempotency behavior, and certification/test approaches.
• Troubleshoot issues across application, data, messaging, and network layers.
• Collaborate with software, cloud, network, QA, field engineering, analytics/observability, and security teams.

Required Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in systems integration engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in building and operating complex system-to-system integrations.
• Proficiency with Java microservices, event-driven architectures, edge environments, and cloud platforms.
