Technical Head Track Systems

Role Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Technical Head – Track Systems to provide strategic and technical leadership across its Middle East business, clients, and railway programs. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focusing on the delivery of high-quality consultancy services in track systems and operational asset management. The role involves driving innovation, technical excellence, and business growth within the railway sector.

Strategic Leadership and Impact

As a senior leader, the Technical Head will play a key role in shaping technical solutions and leading major bids within the company's governance framework. This position requires managing client relationships effectively and developing high-performing engineering teams. The successful candidate will act as a trusted technical authority and Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing strategic guidance to both clients and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of track systems solutions, ensuring best-in-class technical delivery and providing oversight on all elements of the track systems lifecycle.
• Provide valuable experience and insight into areas such as contracting, technical deployment strategies, design, manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning, operational readiness, and asset management.
• Lead and oversee track alignment assignments and the delivery of major, multidisciplinary rail projects, ensuring excellence across scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
• Manage critical railway system interfaces, including rail and wheel interfaces, stations, and complex railway infrastructure junctions, while ensuring compliance with assurance, approvals, and certification requirements.
• Lead and oversee the delivery of operations (including entry into service and operational readiness) and asset management assignments.
• Lead bids, tenders, and procurement activities, offering both technical and commercial leadership, and develop feasibility studies and strategic advisory inputs.
• Drive the development and optimisation of railway operational concepts and system interfaces, promoting the adoption of digital and advanced control technologies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams and technical specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements

Candidates for this role should possess over 10 years of experience in track systems within the railway industry. The position requires a proven ability to provide strategic guidance, proactively identify and resolve technical challenges, and lead complex railway programs. Experience in business development, including identifying growth opportunities and strengthening market position, is essential. A strong background in fostering innovation and supporting knowledge sharing within technical disciplines is also required.
