The Role: Airfield Maintenance Manager

Daa International is seeking an Airfield Maintenance Manager for the Red Sea International Airport. This full-time position is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of airside facilities. The role involves strategic maintenance planning, effective FM contract management, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing asset lifecycles, and providing leadership to multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will also drive continuous improvement, operational resilience, sustainability initiatives, and the development of future talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all FM and outsourced service providers to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met and issues are resolved promptly.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of all airside facilities, assets, and buildings.
  • Oversee asset management to meet ISO 55000 standards and act as the single FM contact for all airside assets and services.
  • Plan, manage, and execute maintenance activities to ensure safe, clean, and efficient airside operations.
  • Maintain key airside infrastructure, including runways, taxiways, aprons, pavements, signage, drainage, substations, generators, AGL systems, security systems, GSE areas, RFFS, ATC, MET, and UAB facilities.
  • Coordinate specialized outsourced engineering and infrastructure support as needed.
  • Manage planned and corrective maintenance for all airside and general aviation facilities, including support for AGL systems and signage maintenance.
  • Liaise with government and customs officials on airside facility maintenance.
  • Work with project teams on scopes, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes.
  • Ensure proper documentation, drawings, and manuals are maintained, and oversee CAFM, preventive, and corrective maintenance planning.
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi law, ICAO/GACAR, and all airside regulations.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance, safety, and emergency response.
  • Prepare monthly maintenance and management performance reports, and coordinate annual master maintenance planning and continuous optimization.
  • Manage FM contracts, staff, contractors, and internal teams, providing cost-effective solutions to extend asset life cycles.
  • Manage inventory and optimize re-ordering with procurement and warehouse teams.
  • Identify new technologies, cost-saving methods, and energy-saving strategies.
  • Set and review team objectives aligned with airport business goals.
  • Supervise, recruit, train, develop, and mentor staff, ensuring succession planning and promoting professional growth through manpower planning.
  • Stay updated on engineering, FM, and airside industry trends.
  • Support emergency response and operational disruptions, and train Saudi graduates as required.
  • Ensure all employees understand and comply with safety, security, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor incidents, near misses, and hazards to ensure proper reporting and response.
  • Support environmental objectives and ensure full implementation of the Environmental Management System, applying environmental principles to reduce risks and improve efficiency.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in airfield maintenance or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic maintenance planning, FM contract management, and regulatory compliance (Saudi law, ICAO/GACAR).
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle optimization and ISO 55000 standards.
