Process Safety Engineer Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to join its Loss Prevention Organization (LP). This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience. The role involves contributing to corporate safety initiatives and supporting Saudi Aramco operations across various locations, including Buqayq, Riyadh, Ras Tannurah, Dhahran, Jeddah, Yanbu, and Jazan.

About the Loss Prevention Organization

The Loss Prevention Organization (LP) serves as Saudi Aramco's corporate safety body, providing both day-to-day in-field occupational and process safety support to operations, alongside centralized technical support and consulting functions. LP's field offices are strategically located in Abqaiq, Riyadh, Ras Tanura, Dhahran, Udhailiyah, Jeddah (including Yanbu and Jazan), and Tanajib, enabling the delivery of services to all Saudi Aramco facilities and departments throughout the Kingdom.

Core Responsibilities

As a Process Safety Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing ongoing risk assessment support to Saudi Aramco organizations to ensure safety in design for capital projects and the operational safety of assets. This includes executing and reviewing consequence analysis, Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRAs), Building Risk Assessment (BRA), High Integrity Protection System (HIPS), and other related safety studies.
  • Collaborating with Saudi Aramco organizations to review hazards and risks on capital projects and those associated with the expansion of existing operational assets.
  • Participating in safety studies and activities such as QRAs, BRA, HIPS, as well as HAZID, HAZOP, and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
  • Developing technically accurate, concise, and timely reports that identify findings and recommendations from risk assessment studies.
  • Developing and reviewing technical standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensuring that projects and operational assets comply with Saudi Aramco policies and standards.
  • Delivering training in QRA, BRA, and HIPS to Loss Prevention Department (LPD) Engineers.
  • Acting as a mentor to other loss prevention professionals.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience in process safety and risk assessment.
  • Practical hands-on experience in consequence and risk assessment of assets such as pipelines, gas plants, Gas Oil Separation Plants (GOSPs), bulk plants, refineries, offshore production, and wellhead platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality technical reports, either as a consultant or technical risk engineer.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively in English with peers and management, and to produce clear and concise reports in English.
