About Saudi Aramco and the Opportunity

Saudi Aramco holds a significant position in the global energy industry as one of the world’s largest producers of hydrocarbon energy and chemicals. Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with offices worldwide, the company is seeking a Safety Engineer to join its Loss Prevention organization. This full-time role supports operations across various locations, including Buqayq, Riyadh, Ras Tannurah, Dhahran, Jeddah, Yanbu, and Jazan.

Role Purpose and Context

The Loss Prevention (LP) organization at Saudi Aramco provides essential day-to-day in-field occupational and process safety support to company operations, alongside centralized technical support and consulting functions. As a Safety Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to provide daily support to company facilities and departments. This involves facilitating the effective implementation of the Saudi Aramco Safety Management System (Occupational & Process Safety) expectations and associated programs, while ensuring compliance with all company safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the implementation of the Saudi Aramco Safety Management System, its objectives, and expectations, including developing associated safety processes and participating in self-assessments.
  • Conduct field inspections and reviews to assess compliance with company and international codes and standards, identify safety concerns, formulate solutions, and develop practical, cost-effective corrective actions.
  • Identify, evaluate, recommend actions, and follow up on critical safety tasks and control methodologies related to operational safety practices (*, work at height, isolation/LOTO, permit to work, hydrogen sulfide, confined space entry, excavations).
  • Participate in safety studies and activities using risk assessment and mitigation methodologies, such as PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs, incident investigations, compliance reviews, or insurance surveys.
  • Respond to emergency situations and incidents, both during and after regular working hours, to provide technical assistance and advice.
  • Participate in worksite contractor safety management activities, including contractor selection and prequalification, monitoring of work site compliance, and measurement of performance.
  • Support the reporting, classification, and investigation of all incidents, participating in incident investigations, determination of root causes, and proper recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Deliver Loss Prevention-specific training to employees, contractors, and outside parties.
  • Mentor other Loss Prevention personnel.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a safety professional in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, or related industries, covering both occupational and process safety.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively in English with peers and management, and to produce clear and concise oral and written reports in English.
