Baker Lead

About the Role

Sheraton is seeking a Baker-Lead to join its full-time team. This role involves the preparation of a variety of baked goods, ensuring adherence to quality standards and food safety protocols. The Baker-Lead will also assist management in team development and operational oversight, serving as a role model within the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare breads and pastries, including doughs, fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating.
• Review production sheets to understand daily baked goods requirements.
• Prepare and cook food according to established recipes, quality, and presentation standards.
• Maintain kitchen logs to ensure compliance with food safety programs.
• Inform the Chef of excess food items for daily specials planning.
• Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances.
• Follow and ensure compliance with food safety handling policies, including personal hygiene.
• Check and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting issues to management.
• Monitor the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout the shift.

Leadership and Team Support

• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
• Serve as a department role model or mentor, fostering positive working relationships.
• Handle sensitive issues with tact, respect, and confidentiality.
• Support the team in achieving common goals and complying with quality expectations.

Workplace Standards and Safety

• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security guidelines.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
• Complete all required safety training and certifications.
• Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
• Communicate professionally and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Capacity to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
• Capability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree.
• Related Work Experience: At least 2 years of related work experience.
• Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required for this role.
