About the CSSD Technician Role

Dr Sulaiman AlHabib Medical Centers is seeking a dedicated CSSD Technician to join their team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is ideal for candidates with 0-1 years of experience who are committed to maintaining high standards of sterilization and patient safety within a medical environment.

Role Purpose and Scope

The CSSD Technician is responsible for performing routine and basic technical tasks within the Central Sterile Supply Department. This role requires strict adherence to JCIA/CBAHI Standards across all processes, including the documentation, sterilization, packaging, storage, and distribution of sterile items, as well as the receiving of all contaminated used items from various assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive all used contaminated items from different assigned areas.
  • Decontaminate received items manually and mechanically using ultrasonic cleaners and automated cart washers.
  • Assemble and pack instrument sets using appropriate packaging materials and techniques.
  • Label prepared packages using proper labeling techniques.
  • Load and unload sterilizers correctly.
  • Adhere to infection control requirements by consistently using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Store sterilized sets and items properly until needed.
  • Transport and deliver sterile packages to units in a proper manner.
  • Perform disinfecting processes as needed and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct daily testing of sterilizers, including warm-up cycles, Bowie and Dick tests, Spore tests, and leak tests.
  • Mentor and precept new staff members.
  • Participate in conducting education and training sessions.
  • Act as CSSD Supervisor during their absence.
  • Assist the Supervisor in evaluating and monitoring staff performance.
  • Perform all delegated tasks assigned by the Supervisor within the scope of competency.

Equipment Operation

The role requires demonstrated ability to handle and operate the following machines and equipment:

  • Ultrasonic Machine
  • Incubator
  • Washer Disinfector
  • Sealing Device
  • Steam Sterilizer

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 0-1 years of relevant experience. A strong understanding and awareness of asepsis principles in all stages of processing is essential, along with the ability to demonstrate quality control by using chemical indicators.
