Design Manager (MEP)

About the Role

SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering is seeking a Design Manager (MEP) to oversee the design, coordination, and integration of MEP systems within building projects. This full-time role involves ensuring that MEP designs meet all technical, regulatory, and project requirements from concept through construction, while managing consultants and stakeholder interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the MEP design process across all project stages, including concept, schematic, detailed design, and construction.
• Coordinate between architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines to ensure fully integrated designs.
• Review and approve MEP design documents, calculations, specifications, and drawings for quality, accuracy, and compliance.
• Manage external MEP consultants and internal teams to meet project goals and timelines.
• Ensure designs comply with local codes, international standards, and sustainability requirements.
• Oversee design submissions, technical reports, and authority approvals.
• Facilitate design workshops, technical meetings, and value engineering sessions.
• Support procurement by providing technical input during tender reviews and supplier evaluations.
• Resolve technical issues during construction and provide support for site implementation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 10-15 years of experience in MEP design and coordination, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale hospitality or leisure projects (hotels, resorts, entertainment venues).
• Previous PMC experience is required.
• Certification or membership in relevant professional bodies.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of building systems, codes, and standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and relevant design and coordination tools.
• Familiarity with BIM workflows and clash detection platforms (*, Navisworks).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
