About the Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to lead financial operations in Medina. This full-time position requires a strategic financial leader who will champion and implement property-wide strategies to meet or exceed brand standards and customer expectations, while maximizing return on investment. The role involves creating and executing a business plan aligned with the property and brand's strategic direction, focusing on financial and accounting activities to achieve desirable financial results.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Finance & Accounting will serve as the property's strategic financial business leader. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing strategies to improve profit, including cost-benefit analysis and exploring new business opportunities.
  • Analyzing financial information, forecasting sales against expenses, and creating annual budget plans.
  • Monitoring actual sales against projected sales and analyzing variances.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings and productivity improvements through analytical support during budget reviews.
  • Implementing and maintaining appropriate controls to manage business risks and ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment.
  • Leading the development and implementation of the annual operating budget and a comprehensive annual business plan aligned with company and brand strategy.
  • Providing ongoing analytical support by monitoring operating department performance and producing accurate forecasts.
  • Overseeing internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
  • Managing communication with owners, understanding their priorities, and advising the General Manager and executive committee on financial matters.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation of profits and losses, timely submission of reports, and compliance with all applicable taxes.
  • Reconciling balance sheets, ensuring P&L accuracy, and maintaining compliance with management contracts and operating procedures.
  • Developing team members through appropriate training and development plans, conducting performance reviews, and participating in hiring activities.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • A 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major, with 2 years of experience in finance and accounting or a related professional area.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major with no work experience required.

Leadership and Stakeholder Management

This role requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence and lead teams and stakeholders. The Director will communicate strategic goals clearly, advocate for sound financial decisions, and lead by example. Effective communication with owners, understanding their priorities, and advising the executive committee on operating and financial issues are crucial. The position also involves managing property working capital and cash flow in accordance with brand standards and owner requirements.

Human Resources and Team Development

The Director of Finance & Accounting is responsible for managing human resource activities within the department. This includes ensuring team members are cross-trained, property policies are administered fairly, and new hires receive appropriate orientation and training. Creating development plans tailored to individual strengths, development needs, and career aspirations is a key aspect of the role, alongside conducting performance reviews and participating in hiring processes.

This is a full-time position located in Medina, Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah region.
