About the Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to serve as the property's strategic financial business leader. This full-time position is based in Medina, within the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The role is responsible for developing and implementing property-wide strategies that align with brand standards and maximize return on investment, while focusing on financial and accounting activities to achieve desirable financial results.

Strategic Financial Leadership

The Director of Finance & Accounting will champion and implement strategies to meet or exceed customer and employee expectations. This includes providing financial expertise to support brand service strategies and initiatives. The role involves creating and executing a business plan aligned with property and brand objectives, focusing on financial and accounting activities to drive profitability and achieve financial targets. A key aspect is analyzing financial data and market trends to inform decision-making and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies to improve profit, including cost-benefit analysis and exploring new business opportunities.
  • Analyze financial information, forecast sales against expenses, and create annual budget plans.
  • Monitor actual sales against projected sales and analyze budget variances for improved planning.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate controls to manage business risks and safeguard assets.
  • Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of profits and losses, and timely submission of reports.
  • Manage property working capital and cash flow in accordance with brand and owner requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with management contracts, reporting requirements, and operating procedures.

Team Leadership and Stakeholder Management

This role requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence the executive team and lead the finance and accounting department. Responsibilities include communicating strategic goals, assigning clear accountability to team members, and conducting performance appraisals. The Director will also manage communication with owners and advise the General Manager and executive committee on financial matters, ensuring the needs of key stakeholders are understood and met.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major, with 2 years of experience in finance and accounting or a related professional area.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major with no work experience required.
  • Experience level required is between 2-5 years.

Human Resources and Development

The Director of Finance & Accounting is responsible for ensuring team members are cross-trained for operational support and that property policies are administered fairly. This includes overseeing the orientation and training of new hires and creating development plans based on individual strengths and career aspirations. Participation in hiring activities as appropriate is also a key function.
